On July 3, the State Duma passed a law proposing to revive the register of breeding achievements in livestock breeding.

The new law clarifies the concept of “breeding products (material) (breeding resources)” and defines key terms such as “farm animals”, “breeds”, “cross lines".

According to Vladimir Kashin, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, the bill received only four amendments. “The document will assist in the development of domestic animal husbandry,” the deputy stressed.

The law stipulates that the Ministry of Agriculture will determine the list of species and breeds (types, line crosses) of animals used in breeding breeding animals. In the future, a breeding animal will be used for breed reproduction only if it belongs to the species and breed included in this list.

The law will enter into force on September 1, 2025, with the exception of provisions for which other deadlines have been set for entry into force.
